On BBC News website, a beautiful story has caught my attention. On any given day, Rachel found a note on an empty bike rack in Reading, England. On this note, we could read:
Dear bike thief,
Have you ever thought that you make people's day miserable? You might have seen that the bike is new and would be a good catch for you. Less you know that I could only afford that bike after one year working my tears out. I was saving and dreaming of having a new bike one day. I only had it for a week.

What Rachel had read made her feel sad. On the note, Alex also said that every day at 6pm he would wait by the bike rack in hope that his bike would be returned. Rachel was touched because that didn't represent her town. She thought, "we're better that this". And so she decided to do something about it.
Rachel launched an online crowdfunding apeal to raise £ 500 to replace Alex's new bike, which was stolen from a bike rack in Central Reading. Within 24 hours she raised £ 785! It was time to find out who Alex was to hand him his bicycle.
And there she was with yellow posters saying "Are you Alex?" and "Looking for Alex... (about your bicycle!)". A little after 6pm, Alex showed up. Rachel's attittude brought so much happiness to Alex that he said she had given him back his faith in humanity. All the leftover money was donated by Alex to a local cycling charity and he intends to join the place as a volunteer. "I'll try to give back that help that society gave to me", he said. "And hopefully by receiving and giving back help we will contribute to a better world."
For Rachel, "the world can be a lonely old place but when eveyone chips in, it can be really, really lovely."
Just as simple as that.

Rachel ficou triste com o que lera. Na carta, Alex ainda avisou que, todo dia, às 18h, ele estaria no estacionamento de bicicletas esperando por sua devolução. Aquilo tocou Rachel, que estava triste com a imagem de sua cidade. Ela pensou, "somos melhores do que isso". E assim ela resolveu fazer algo a respeito.
Rachel lançou uma vaquinha online para arrecadar 500 libras para repor a bicicleta de Alex, que havia sido furtada no centro de Reading. Em menos de 24 horas, ela arrecadou 785 libras! Agora, era preciso descobrir quem era Alex para a entrega da bicicleta.
Lá foi ela com cartazinhos com dizeres "Você é Alex?" e "Estou à procura de Alex a respeito de sua bicicleta". Um pouquinho depois das 18h, Alex apareceu. A iniciativa de Rachel trouxe tanta felicidade a Alex que ele disse que ela havia trazido fé na humanidade de volta para ele. O dinheiro que sobrou foi doado por Alex ao instituição de caridade de ciclismo e ele pretende se voluntariar nessa instituição. "Vou tentar dar de volta a ajuda que a sociedade me deu", afirmou. "Tenho esperança de que, ao receber e dar ajuda, vamos contribuir para um mundo melhor".
Para Rachel, "o mundo pode ser um lugar muito solitário, mas quando todos contribuem, ele pode ser encantador."
Simples assim.
