Mexico and Cameroon open the 2014 World Cup at Arena das Dunas in Natal at 1 pm. Today the world will appreciate the most beautiful stadium of the world cup, located in a city that leaves everyone breathless, in spite of the government's negligence.
At 10 am I will start to walk to the stadium and I advise everyone who is going there to do the same because there will be more than one (detailed) body search until we really get to our seats. Arriving one hour before might mean you will not see the whole game.
Another piece of advice: wear a hat and don't be afraid of abusing of sun screen. Natal has a refreshing breeze and it is not common to feel the sun burning, but the incidence of UVA and UVB radiation is one of the highest in the world.
As it isn't allowed to enter with either food or drinks, get ready to spend money or use you VISA credit card. A small order of beef, which normally comes in a stick but for safety reasons will be served in a plastic recipient, costs R$ 15. And we'll also need to eat and hydrate inside the stadium. Be careful: beer is an enemy of hydration. So if you are going to drink it, remember to drink some water now and then.
That said, it's time to enjoy this historic moment and get involved with fans of Mexico and Cameroon to make the most of this experience.
And don't forget to charge your cell phone battery so you can take some pictures of this moment.
